Camera shots

While filming a scene a number of shots will be used to set the emotion, mood or make a clear understanding of the situation to the audience. At the beginging of any program, movie etc. a shrot called the establishing shot will beused. This shot establishes to the audience where this shot is about to take place, sometime the camera will then pan over the area so that ethe audience as an idea of what the whole setting of the scene is like, This shot is also refered to as an Extreme wide shot (EWS). In a Very wide shot (VWS) this shows barely shows what the subject with e.g. a person or object but mainly shows the place of the scene for example a house, this is used after an establishing shot, the establishing shot shows the area of the scene but the very wide shot shows the exact plave fo the scene. After this is usually the wide shot, this shows exactly what the shot is about, if the shot is about a person then it will be the whole persons body so the audience can get a idea of where abouts they are as it catches a little of the charactors location and also the audiece gets an idea of what the charctor is doing and the mood. A close up shot (CU) can be used for a chartactors face to show their main emotion and feeling to establish to the audience what the charactors reaction maybe to certain news etc. Commonly in a shot a cut away is used, this can be of an object, animal etc. this shot is when the camera is moved away from the main person, object or action. Or the oposite to the may be a cut in, this a close up shot to part of the main action in the shot weather it is a main charactors hands, feet or part of the body. A point-of-view shot (POV) this shot gives the audience a insight the the world of the charctor and what they are seeing, example, if the charctor is reading book, then the shot will be of the book they are reading and their hands turning the page, this makes the audience look at the worl through the charactors eyes. Another shot used during filming is usually a weather shot, this shot shows the weather of the location in the scene, this shot usually only lasts for roughly about 3-5seconds as after mjore than that it will lose the attention of the audience and the situation.
