Light is used to create an image exposure on a frame of film. Lighting contributes considerably to the emotional response an audience has watching a motion picture. Lighting is important for the audience because a horror would have many dark moments in the film this would create a creepy/eary atmosphere that is needed to scare the audience and cause tension. Whereas a happy film would use many light scenes this would usually show the sun to create a happy atmosphere.
