The titles that start this film is “Warner Bros Pictures” Then the title comes up “Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix”. The theme music then starts which is on all the Harry potter films. The establishing shot is up in the sky and looks down and zooms down into the park where the setting is set. We see grass swaying in the wind this gives an eary effect. We then see a shadow this makes the audience feel abit uncomfortable and on edge the tension builds. Then we see the main character Harry Potter. We then have a wide shot of the round about moving on its own this is creepy as we think something scary is going to happen. We then see a wide shot of 5 boys been horrid and there is a zoom in on Harrys emotions. The sky then goes black we deffinatly know something bad is going to happen now as the atmosphere suddenly changes. Harry threatens the boy. Scary music is played. This creates dramatic tension. There is the a shot looking down on the two boys then a weather shot. This is the end of the starting scene.

In this film, there are two opening sequences, this is purely because of the way the storyline of the film is laid out. The first sequence has no opening titles, however, after the sequence there are the opening titles with a red background and black hair revealing the names and titles.
The first sequence is a Wide Point of View shot, showing a male looking out into the city. It then cuts to a Medium shot of his face and a girl laid in a bed behind him. We then see a close up of the side of his head, to show the confusion in the character and then goes to an MS of the female in the bed, the dialogue has begun. Then a Wide shot is used to show the man jumping off the blacony, this then cuts to a POV shot of him falling to the ground, the speed of this shot is very quick. The shot from which he has just fallen is then shown again, however, the girl walks into the shot, shock and confused, this is then reverted to a POV shot of his mangled body on the road below. A crane shot is then used to show the distance he fell, the music now starts ans this then fades to a blackout.

MEAN GIRLS

This film starts off with a Point of View shot from the main character (Kady). This shot shows both parents, it then reverst to a Close up and POV shot of the mother and then back to the starting shot. This shot then tilts slightly – to simulate the character of Kady standing up. There is then an Over the SHoulder shot of Kady. There is then a mid shot of the mother and Kady, to another mid shot of the father taking a photo graph and then back to the original mid shot of Kady and her mother – which pauses as though taking the photograph, narration/ self monologue of the charcter Kady. It then reverst to a wide shot of all three characters and the surrounding house and background. Again, there is a MS of Kady and her mother and another non diagetic sound as a camera take a picture, whilst the shot freezes.
Indiana Jones-The Last Crusade
January 27th, 2010 by laurastrickland

This film starts with the paramount pictures logo which is a mountain with little stars in a circle with paramount pictures in the middle. it then says paramount pictures presents a lucasfilm LTD production-a steven spielberg film. The film right from the begginning had music which is the main theme from all the indiana jones films. The tune is repeated quite alot through the film which then becomes a motif through out the film(s).
The film starts with a panning camera down the screen from the top of the screen moving to the bottom of the ground focusing on the boys (scouts) on the horses riding along there is a full shot of the boys on the horses so you can get the surroundings of the mountains etc. then it focus’s on the two boys climbing the cliff. There is then an over the shoulder shot which then moves to a point of view shot so we a the audience can see what the to boy are looking at. There is a close up of the boys face (young indiana jones) so you can see his facial expressions. there is then a two shot of the boys talking so you can see both there facial expressions and what there both thinking. there is a hand held camera used so you can see that there is panick and stress when young indiana jones is getting chased. there is a tracking shot of the boy on the horse and this follows him the whole way round on the chase. whilst this is happening there is up beat music playing which matchs the actions as there all sudden and upbeat. A dolly has been used when they are following the train and actors ll jump on to train and climb along the top and the side of the train.
There is a montage shot of the mountains in the opening section. this shows the different images of the mountains/cliffs and the scale of them, there is also a montage of the boys on the horses. When the music is playing it is turned down so you can hear the dialogue over the top of the music however the music is still dominating the scene. there has been a cutaway from the boy running from the train to the house. At the very end of the sequence there is a cut where the man puts the hat on young indiana jones head then he looks down and when he looks back up it is now grown up indiana jones (Harrison Ford). This has just been a flash back of indiana jones remembering something which he had been told that day and was now using it against them when he’s older. The scenery round him has also changed as when he looked down he was in a house then when he looked up he’s now on a ship. there is also a change in the weather as when hes younger its very sunny it almost looks like they live in a desert and when he’s older its raining very heavily.
i think this is one of the best opening of a film i have seen as it keeps your interest as you want to find out what happens and it is very cleverly done with all the cuts and edits especially the one at the end with the hat as you dont expect it.
