Using a Video Camera
Tuesday, September 29th, 2009There are many effects on a video camera first is you can ZOOM. This helps you get a better picture rather than have to run or move places it will zoom up to the object for you by pressing a simple button. when zooming you will become more wobbly with the camera so for long zooms you should use a tripod.
There also is a focus. This means you can focus better on an object. It makes the picture become more sharp and clear. If you turn the ring clockwise for closer focus and anti-clockwise for more distant focus.
White Balance. To do this you point the camera at something matt (non-reflective) white in the same light (in our lesson we used a sheet of white paper.) Set your focus and exposure, then press the “white balance” button (or throw the switch). This will make sure the colour of the picture is just right.
The shutter can make a picture sharper and help control exposure, but it is not usual used until you are more advanced.
Although cameras are very useful they are not always perfect if you don’t have the right lighting or bad conditions. Also your camera doesn’t know what you want so YOU are the controller!
