titles analysis

February 3rd, 2010 by jackyoung

The ring - The titles are on a black background in white writing they take up alot of the opening titles in between themn there are flashes of images - subliminal affect, lets you know the film is scary.

Panic room- the titles arer all placed against buildings in the a city. there just ofproductions of ……… music by ……. written by…. ect nothing to suggest what the film is about or wehat genre it is.

13 ghost - just basic orange writting in the center of the screen. Obviouse it’s a scary movie as it’s in haloween style.

Prelim evaluation

January 29th, 2010 by jackyoung

the lighting was basic strip lighting, this mwas to bright for the task. There was too much head room in all of the shots and the camera looked to lean slightly in one of the shots. There also were som shots taken after a whit balance and some before so that effected the shots. There sound levels were not high enough as the speech was very quiet. The action shot of oppening the door was too long. The task hepled to point out basic thing that need doing and planning out.

Film opening analysis

January 27th, 2010 by jackyoung

Dawn of the dead- starts of with fast paced extreme close-ups of the zombies, then the voice over explains what’s going on this is then linked with real footage of riots mixed with the close ups of the zombies. The riots aren’t fast cuts but the close ups are. the music isn’t typical but gives the effect it’s actually happened.
the title finishes of with the end of a prayer.

The Ring - the title sequence uses a lot of black shots, the music starts of like a child’s sort of music then becomes more like heavy metal then goes back to the child’s song towards the end. most of it is black and white. theirs collages of random images that seem to mean nothing but are relevant to the film. the edits become fast through the title.

Panic Room - shots of the city with the titles just in the middle of buildings ect. Not really setting the scene or telling you what the film is about voice over from the opening scene at the end of the titlesall the titles set the scene slightly but keep a mystery about what’s happening or happened. music seems to be important to the mystery and setting the horror scene but nothing it given away about the film.

Preliminary Exercise

The shot of the man walking down the hall is a good shot that leads onto an action shot of him oppening the door these a both very good shots. The next shot is an ok shot of him walking across the room leading onto another action shot of him picking up a chair, these are also good shots but the following over the shoulder shot and shot reverse shot break the rule of 180 degree rule.

Intro to sound

November 6th, 2009 by jackyoung

Built in microphones are good but don’t allways offer the best quality they can often pick up unwanted audio. This is why it is important to choose the correct microphone when filming.

Audio needs to be moniterd to make sure it’s picking up the best quality that it can.

The position of the microphone is important to pick up the clearest speach, some can be placed on clothing others need to be pinted directly at the subject of speech.
