evaluation task 2

April 26th, 2010 by benbarker48133

I decided to compare our villain in our film to  the villain in haloween, Mike Myers (pictured above) callum played the beast like villain in our film who is similar to the character in haloween. Both these characters are similar in appearance, both have a tall, built stature and look aggressive. The costumes they both wear are also similar, black dark clothing with a big hood up the only diiference is the character from haloween wears a mask to cover his identity, we tried keeping callums indentity unknown also but with out a mask but just  with a big hood. they both play a similar role in both films, picking of  victims one by one and killing them. They both have an intimidating presense in thier roles in the films.

evaluation task 1

The first picture is our Establashing shot for our media project. This shot is intended to show you the surroundings of the location we chose to film within. In the last picture that we used there is one character holding a metal pole which we used as a prop, this was done to add tension in the scene and to make it more applicable to the horror genre we intended to follow. We used a different variety of shots whilst filming, some of the shots include two shot, over the shoulder shot, pan shot and a shot reverse shot. The movie that we filmed was done in an abandonned building as we were filming a horror and thought that this would be the best place to add suspense and create a scary mood throughout. The opening of our movie sugests that the genre is a horror because the music builds up suspense to make the audience think that something is going to happen, this is a technique used in virtually every horror film ever created. Also, the building that the two characters are entering instantly gives a sense of discomfort. The characters in our film are introduced by fade in and fade outs throughout the opening. We only used one special effect in our fim, this is when the character walks past the doorway on the top floor , what we did here was change the lighting as the shot was far to dark. This was done using brightness/contrast adjustments.

evaluation activity 4

Due to the nature and content of our film, it is instantly apparent that it would not be suitable for audiences of the age 15 or under. However, we feel it doesnt need an age rating of 18 as it isnt overly graphic or violent.

This is the type of audience we think would enjoy our film the most. This is mainly because older audiences dont tend to find horror films as interesting and exciting as younger audiences. Therefore we think that students (aged between 18 and 23) would find our film more enjoyable than most. It would also be probable that alot of viewers would share alot of similarities, such as clothes, music etc. This is mainly because students are subjected to alot of trends which they pick up on and follow. Such as wearing branded designer clothing and listening to modern dance music. They also share a love of being scared by films whilst watching them with friends. This gives a huge social aspect to horror films.

December 2nd, 2009 by benbarker48133

The adobe premiere workspace is desgned to be extremely efficient aswell as being easy to use. The main workspace is divided into five panels:

  • The project panel-Where you store the required video, audio and graphic clips
  • The monitor panel-where video pieces can be viewed to assess results
  • The info panel-shows detailed information of the selected clip/edit
  • The timeline panel-where various clips are organised into a timeline to create the final edit
  • The tool panel-where various tools can be selected to adjust the edit being created in the timeline

All of these panels work together to help create broadcast worthy pieces of media with ease.

using premiere (task 9)

December 2nd, 2009 by benbarker48133

Adobe premiere is a program part of the adobe creative studio series. It is a program capable of creating and editing film to a high standard. It is operated by importing extracts of film from a memory source or through a fire wire directly from the camera. Edits are then created by cutting, moving and altering various peices of audio and visual data until the desired outcome is created. There is also various trainstition and cgi effects available on the program that can be used to give a piece of media the wow factor.

editing (task 8)

November 4th, 2009 by benbarker48133

Editing is a vital procedure which takes place after filming. It is used to create a final piece film that follows the set criteria.  Editing is a process where diferent clips of film or audio, are used to build up a structure of shots which eventually create a final piece. It also gives the producer an oppourtunity to shorten or remove bad shots, add music and even use computer generated effects to give the film a boost.
